Jaime W. Betbeze
Biographical Information Jaime W. Betbeze practices in the Litigation Section, with an emphasis on admiralty, transportation, and construction law. In connection with these primary areas of practice, Jaime is a member of the Southeastern Admiralty Law Institute (SEALI), the Transportation Lawyers Association (TLA), and the Defense Research Institute's (DRI) Construction Law Committee. Jaime practices extensively in Alabama and Florida in federal and state trial and appellate courts. He also has broad political experience, having served as Legislative Assistant to the Honorable Newt Gingrich and as Development Director for the Columbia Institute in Washington D.C. At Alabama Law School, Jaime served on the Editorial Board of the Alabama Law Review and on the John A. Campbell Moot Court Board. He was a Hugo Black Scholar, a member of the Jessup International Moot Court Team, the Order of the Barristers, the Order of the Coif, and the Bench & Bar Legal Honor Society. Jaime serves as the Chairman of Hand Arendall's Recruitment Committee.
Jaime is also active in a number of civic organizations focusing primarily on historic preservation and has significant experience in preservation law. He has served as President of the Mobile Revolving Fund for Historic Properties, and is a member of the Historic Mobile Preservation Society and the National Trust for Historic Preservation. Jaime has also served as President of Main Street Mobile's Christmas Parade Board of Directors and President of the Mobile Historic Development Commission. In addition, Jaime is active in the Cathedral Parish, Musica Sacra Chorus, and the St. Thomas More Society, which sponsors the annual Red Mass. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society - Alabama Chapter, and the Board of Directors of the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Mid-Gulf Chapter.
