G. Porter Brock, Jr. is a member in the firm’s Tax, Trusts and Estates Practice Group. He practices extensively in various tax, probate, and corporate areas.
He has handled the planning for a number of multi-million estates, including the use of such sophisticated techniques as family limited partnerships, planning for valuation discounts based on minority interests and lack of marketability, charitable remainder unitrusts, private foundations, etc.
He regularly handles the legal work for estate administrations, including the estate tax issues associated therewith, and he has defended against numerous income, gift, estate and excise tax deficiencies claimed by the Internal Revenue Service or the State of Alabama.
He has also formed, dissolved, merged, and handled the other legal needs of a number of closely held corporations, both large and small.
He has formed and represents a number of public and private foundations, including The Community Foundation of South Alabama.
He is listed in both the Tax Law and the Trusts and Estates sections of The Best Lawyers in America and is a Fellow in both the American College of Tax Counsel and the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel.
