Associate compensation at Hand Arendall is commensurate with that of other major law firms in the South. The compensation package includes a generous benefits program, including hospitalization and major medical insurance benefits, disability income insurance, continuing education expenses and bar association dues, two weeks annual vacation after the first year, and free indoor parking.
In addition, after their first year with the firm, associates are eligible to participate in the firm's retirement program. The firm contributes an amount equal to 7.5% of the associate's salary to the retirement plan. The firm's contribution is made without regard to voluntary contributions by the associate; however, an associate can contribute an additional 25% of his or her salary up to the statutory maximum contribution. Participants are 100% vested in the plan from the outset. Investment options in the plan consist of mutual funds of the Vanguard Group, as well as an opportunity for self-directed investments.
The new law creates a state law cause of action for pay discrimination on the basis of sex or race, with exceptions for reasons such as seniority and production.Read More
